HCSO identifies teen shot and killed in north Harris County over the weekend

While detectives were investigating the shooting, they learned another male with a gunshot wound was being treated at a local urgent care facility.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — We've learned the name of a 17-year-old who was gunned down at a north Harris County apartment complex Sunday night. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the victim has been identified as Adolphus McKenzie.

Editor's note: The above video originally aired on Monday, Nov. 4.

The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. at the Evolve Champions Apartments on TC Jester Boulevard near FM 1960.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said other tenants heard the shooting and found the victim lying on the ground.

Deputies received a call about shots being fired and found the teen with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

“The residents who heard the gunshots heard a vehicle speed off, but they did not see the vehicle," HCSO Homicide Sgt. G. Pinkins said Sunday. “No suspect information or description."

While homicide and crime scene units were investigating the shooting, they learned a male with a gunshot wound was being treated at a local urgent care facility. He was detained and questioned.

In an update on Wednesday, HCSO said the case will be turned over to a grand jury to determine charges. They believe robbery was the possible motive for the shooting.
