SUGAR LAND, Texas — A search is underway in Sugar Land on Tuesday afternoon after a suspect stole money from an armored truck, according to police.
The scene unfolded just after noon at the H-E-B at the intersection of University Boulevard and Highway 6.
According to police, the store remained open after the incident.
Investigators said a suspect stole money from the truck and tried to leave the scene. An armored truck guard fired at least two shots at the suspect's vehicle, hitting it.
No injuries were reported in the shooting and it's unclear how much money was stolen.
Police said they found the suspect's vehicle but they were still searching for the suspect as of about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. They ended up clearing the crime scene at the grocery store around 2 p.m. but investigators said they were still searching for the suspect.
Police said they were using K-9s, drones and a helicopter to search for the suspect and also said they think another person might be involved.
