HOUSTON — A man was shot and killed Tuesday at a tire shop near the Astrodome, according to Houston police.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. at a 24-hour tire shop off the South Loop near Almeda Road.
Police said a man showed up to get some work done on his vehicle. He was standing next to his car while the employee was helping him when the shooter walked into the parking lot and opened fire with what police believe was a rifle.
The customer was shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The employee was shot once, believed to be in the arm, was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
Police said they were talking to witnesses and working to get surveillance video of the shooting.
No one was identified or taken into custody.
Investigators said there have been previous shootings at the location but they're not sure if they're connected in any way.
