PORTER, Texas — A deputy was shot at during a traffic stop Tuesday morning in Montgomery County, MCSO said.
Investigators said the officer stopped a vehicle around 8:19 a.m. on Valley Ranch at Azalea in Porter. They said the passenger had a warrant for failing to stop or remaining stopped for law enforcement, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in Louisiana. The passenger fired shots and then ran into a neighborhood.
Deputies searched for the suspect with drones. The drone cameras found him in a yard hiding behind an air conditioner. A deputy said he saw the suspect pointing a weapon at another deputy and started shooting, hitting the suspect, the department said.
The suspect was taken to hospital in an unknown condition. No deputies were injured. The woman who was driving the car was not charged.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area as the incident was being investigated.
