Manhunt underway for man accused of killing sister's husband in north Houston, HPD says

Police say when the husband came over to get a few more items in the apartment, he started arguing with his wife's brother who also lives there.

HOUSTON — Police are searching for a man suspected of killing his sister's husband in the Greenspoint area Wednesday night.

Police said this all happened in front of the victim’s wife and children. The wife is in the hospital after she was shot in the leg in the crossfire. She's expected to be OK.

This happened around 9 p.m. at an apartment on Greens Road near Northchase Drive.

Houston police said this all started in the midst of the husband coming to collect his items since the couple recently broke up.

Police said when the husband came over to get a few more items in the apartment, he started arguing with his wife's brother who also lived there.

Investigators said the disagreement escalated to a fight where punches were exchanged in front of the children, ages 6, 9, and 14.

When the wife tried to intervene, the police said that's when things sadly turned deadly.

“She started physically breaking them up. That’s when both presented pistols and they both started shooting. Obviously, the husband was shot several times he died on the scene,” HPD Lt. Willkens said.

Here's what police say might have sparked the altercation

“An argument broke out. He was upset and yelling about the kids not having their bath yet. That’s what we are being told he was upset they hadn’t had their bath yet. So he started arguing and started getting into it with the brother who was in his room in the apartment,” HPD Lt. Willkens said.

As for the woman’s brother, the suspect in the case, Houston police said they are trying to track him down right now.
