Man found dead in car riddled with bullet holes that crashed through a fence in northwest Houston

Houston homicide detectives are trying to determine if the victim died from the shooting or from the crash on 34th Street near Antoine.

HOUSTON — The owners of a northwest Houston business made a startling discovery Friday morning. They found a person dead inside a wrecked car that was riddled with bullet holes.

Houston Police homicide detectives responded to 34th Street between Hempstead Road and Anotine Drive in northwest Houston at 8:15 a.m.

The unidentified victim was dead inside a vehicle that had crashed through a fence around 5 a.m.

The business owners found the crash scene when they arrived Friday morning and immediately called police.

Officers said the victim was a young man who had been shot.

Air 11 showed a silver Honda sedan that had crashed through a fence and ended up near an industrial building. The bullet holes were on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Police were reviewing surveillance video to piece together what happened.

"My partner and other detectives are following up with surveillance footage at multiple businesses out here and with the community we'll get to the bottom of this," HPD detective Daniel Lunceford said.

They believe the driver was headed eastbound on W. 34th when he lost control and plowed through the fence and then likely went airborne before landing near the tile shop.

They're asking anyone with information to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
