Houston police searching for suspect in string of fast food restaurant robberies

Police say the suspect pretends to be a customer and then grabs cash from a drawer when employees open it.

HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department’s Robbery Division is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect believed to be responsible for a string of robberies at fast food restaurants, including one in late October.

According to investigators, on Sunday, Oct. 27, an unknown man seen in the video above, entered a restaurant at 12:30 p.m. on Bellaire Boulevard near Chimney Rock and acted like a customer. When the employee opened the register, the suspect reached over the counter and grabbed cash from the drawer before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Police said the same suspect is believed to be responsible for at least 15 other robberies, all committed in a similar manner since Oct. 15. Police believe the suspect may live nearby, as all the incidents occurred within the same geographical area.

Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston. Tips leading to the arrest or charging of felony suspects may result in a cash reward of up to $5,000. To remain anonymous, tipsters must contact Crime Stoppers directly at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submit online at www.crime-stoppers.org
