Road rage suspected in deadly 3-vehicle crash along North Freeway

A man died at the scene and six others were injured when two vehicles collided with a third at the intersection of the northbound feeder road along the North Freeway and Airline Drive.

HOUSTON – A deadly three-vehicle collision may be the result of a road rage incident near the North Freeway early Monday.

A man died at the scene and six others were injured when two vehicles collided with a third at the intersection of the northbound feeder road and Airline Drive.

Houston Police say a passenger car and a white van, who were both heading west on Airline Drive, ran the red light and struck a second white van heading north on the service road.

Police suspect that the two vehicles who ran the red light may have been involved in a possible road rage incident leading up to the crash.

The driver of the second white van died at the scene, while six other people, four from the car and two from the first white van, were transported to a local hospital, police said.

The collision happened around 2:30 a.m. and police say it could take several hours before the intersection is reopened, affecting the morning commute.
