HOUSTON -- Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in an attempted robbery and assault at a north Houston store.

The attempted robbery occurred around 11 a.m. on Sept. 9 in the 500 block of Crosstimbers Street in north Houston. Police say a black male suspect entered the store, picked up a cooler bag and filled it with various items before trying to leave.

A store employee confronted the suspect about the items and reportedly asked him to either return or pay for them. The suspect then pushed the employee to the floor, injuring the employee. Officials say the employee was able to retrieve the cooler bag from the suspect after a struggle before the suspect left the store on a green bicycle.

The incident was captured on store surveillance cameras. Authorities describe the suspect as a black man approximately 50 years old and about 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11 with a slim build, short black hair and a graying mustache and beard. He was wearing a navy Houston Texans t-shirt during the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information on the suspect is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 713-222-TIPS, by texting TIP610 and the information to 274637 or online www.crime-stoppers.org.
