HOUSTON — Officials increased the reward for information that leads to an arrest in connection to a Houston man's death in 2020.

Christopher Hinton-Mena was found dead in his car in the 9200 block of Cullen Boulevard, which is near Reed Road, in Houston on Nov. 14, 2020. He had a gunshot wound to the head.

Mena was 35 years old. His mother, Marnita Hinton, keeps his story alive. She shared her pain with KHOU 11 in 2022.

Manita Hinton said someone walked up behind Mena and shot him while he was asleep in his Jeep.

“Who killed my son?” she asked.

She said her son was a fun-loving and caring person.

“Everybody knew him as a good guy, you know? Laughter ... full of laughter ... jokes," Marnita Hinton said. “He enjoyed helping other people. Real good guy. Everybody knew."

Marnita Hinton continues to push for answers.

Crime Stoppers increased the reward Thursday to up to $15,000. The reward would be paid out to someone who contacts Crime Stoppers with information that leads to charges in the case. Tips must be received by phone, online, or the Crime Stoppers mobile app. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
