HOUSTON — A man accused of insulting another man's wife and then killing him was in court on Wednesday, two days after the deadly shooting.
A judge set 32-year-old Elijah Johnson's bond at $250,000.
Johnson turned himself in, according to officials. He's charged with murder in connection with the death of 34-year-old Anthony Garrett.
Garrett was killed Monday afternoon outside a corner store on West Rankin Road. He was shot several times.
According to court records, Garrett hit Johnson before the shots were fired.
Officials said there were three witnesses to the shooting as well as surveillance video. They said the witnesses identified Johnson out of a lineup.
In court, it was revealed that Johnson was out on bond for an assault charge when he shot and killed Garrett.
He's due back in court on Friday.
