HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A dramatic foot chase was caught on Houston TranStar cameras after a stabbing suspect ran across the lanes of Highway 249 in northwest Harris County on Friday morning.
The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. near Grant Road just northwest of FM 1960.
Houston police said the man was wanted in connection with the stabbing of a METRO bus driver near Gessner Road.
METRO said the bus driver suffered lacerations to the hand, head and shoulder and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Video from Transtar showed the man walking on the outside shoulder of Highway 249, moving against traffic. Law enforcement vehicles approached from the opposite direction, stopping traffic to intervene.
At that point, the suspect ran across the freeway, weaving between moving cars with law enforcement in pursuit. The chase continued across the lanes until high-profile vehicles temporarily obscured the suspect.
Law enforcement was later seen returning to their patrol vehicles and traffic resumed moving.
