HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 21-year-old man was arrested after investigators say he shot at deputies during a chase last month in northwest Harris County.
The Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office says Juan Jesus Guerrero was taken into custody Thursday afternoon without incident and is charged with assaulting a public servant.
Investigators said the charges stem from an incident on Sept. 15 where Guerrero opened fire on a Precinct 5 deputy during a chase on Highway 6. The pursuit reached speeds up 90 mph before the suspect lost control of his vehicle, crashing into another car. The vehicle pursuit ended in a parking lot n the 5300 block of N. Highway 6.
That is when Guerrero then climbed out of his car and fired three shots in the deputy’s direction as the suspect ran away, investigators said. The deputy constable was not hurt but his patrol vehicle was struck by one of the rounds.
Precinct 5 investigators identified Guerrero last week, and recently identified where he was hiding out.
Strategic Response Unit and Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force executed a search warrant in the 16300 block of Pebbleglen Drive, where they found Guerrero and took him into custody without incident.
Another man, Christopher Erik Arana, 20, who was living at the same location was arrested for possession of a stolen handgun and a variety of illegal drugs, including THC, Xanax and marijuana.
Investigators said they also seized an AK-47.
