Pasadena father accused of abandoning infant daughter next to dumpster

Anferne Gray faced a judge after investigators said he abandoned his infant daughter next to a dumpster for three to four hours.

PASADENA, Texas — Anferne Gray, 28, wore a Nirvana T-shirt during his probable cause court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

That's where he faced the music regarding alleged family violence charges.

"And then there’s a felony charge of abandoning a child,” the magistrate said.

In addition to allegedly assaulting his child’s mother, Gray is accused of leaving his infant daughter by a motel pool in Pasadena on Monday for 15 or 20 minutes.

But that’s just the beginning of the allegations against him.

"Then you picked up the child, walked about 1,000 feet to a nearby restaurant where you allegedly left the baby inside of a dumpster enclosure," the magistrate said.

KHOU 11 News found the dumpster area in question located near Crenshaw and the Beltway. Witnesses said they saw police respond while checking the area following a 911 call from the child’s mother. He allegedly told someone he no longer wanted to care for the child.

"Left the child unattended there for three to four hours,” the magistrate said.

The magistrate told Gray the disturbing information gave him a great deal of concern for his family’s safety. He set Gray's bonds at $100,000 on each charge against him.

Pasadena Police told us Gray’s daughter is about 2 months old.

His bond conditions included not having any contact with the baby or her mother.
