FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — Santa has a naughty list and so does the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
In fact, "Operation Naughty List" is the name of an undercover sting operation that recently nabbed 16 men for soliciting sex.
It's called the world's oldest profession, but these days, it has a new twist.
"The days of females on the street is pretty much over. You seldom see that. They are doing that online using social media," Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan said.
So that’s how Fagan set up Operation Naughty List -- over the internet.
On Monday, the suspects showed up at a prearranged location in Missouri City. One suspect drove three hours to get there. Altogether, 16 men, ages 20 to 60, were arrested and charged with solicitation and promotion of prostitution.
They included Clements High School principal Brian Shillingburg.
Another suspect who recently taught at the same high school was also arrested this week. Mason Reed McKie, 29, faces a sex trafficking charge out of Georgia in an unrelated case.
"We did investigate that. At this time it does not seem there was a connection. One was currently employed at the school. The other one was not," Fagan said.
Fagan asked citizens to be alert to signs of human sex trafficking.
"If the only thing you see is men coming in and out late at night, if they have burglar bars and locks on the outside of the house instead of the inside of the house -- these are all possible signs," he said.
He said some prostitutes are victims themselves, which is why the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office team brings healthcare workers, counselors and lawyers during sting operations.
