One suspect in custody, others at large following Galleria-area shooting incident

Police say one suspect is in custody and others are at large following a shooting incident Thursday afternoon near a Starbucks in the Galleria area.

Police say one suspect is in custody and others are at large following a shooting incident Thursday afternoon near a Starbucks in the Galleria area.

Authorities responded to the scene in the 12700 block of Post Oak Boulevard near Westheimer Road just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say two groups of men -- one in a black Cadillac and one in a white Cadillac -- started shooting at each other near the Starbucks drive-thru.

Police pulled over two vehicles possibly matching the descriptions and brought them back to the scene for witnesses to identify the suspects. Two men were in the black Cadillac where police say a pistol was found under the driver's seat. The driver was charged with felon in possession of a weapon. The passenger in that car was detained but later released after witnesses could not positively identify him as one of the shooters.

Officials say the suspects in the white Cadillac remain at large after they found the initial vehicle was not involved. Witnesses say they saw four people in the white Cadillac during the incident.

According to police, the driver of the white Cadillac they pulled over did have a weapon and marijuana in his car and was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a weapon.

Police say no one was struck in the incident.

The motive is unknown at this time, but police do not believe this is a gang-related incident.
