Apartment resident opens fire on man, woman who were banging on door, sheriff says

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said a woman was killed and a man was seriously injured after they were shot by a woman whose door they were banging on in north Harris County.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A woman was killed and a man was shot and stabbed during an argument at a north Harris County apartment complex on Sunday morning.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said it happened at the Glen Cove Apartments around 10:30 a.m.

According to Gonzalez, a man and a woman showed up at the complex and started banging on the door of a unit of someone they knew. That's when he said a man from inside the apartment answered the door and started fighting with the man who was outside.

The woman who lives at the apartment pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting the man and woman who showed up and started banging on the door. The woman who was shot was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. The man was shot and stabbed and taken to an area hospital in serious condition. Gonzalez said he had to have surgery and it's unclear if he'll survive.

The woman who opened fire was cooperating with investigators, Gonzalez said. In addition to the man and woman who went to the door, two children and another man were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.

Gonzalez said he's not sure what led up to the incident and he's also unsure if any charges will be filed. He said it looked like it could be a case of self-defense.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
