HOUSTON – A mother has been charged with capital murder for allegedly drowning her 5-year-old son and decapitating him.
Lihui Liu, 43, was expected to face a judge Saturday night but did not appear in court due to medical reasons. She was given no bond.
Police said they were called to Liu's home on the 13800 block of Holly Lynn Lane on Friday. When they walked in they saw her son lying on the garage floor. He was partially covered by a plastic bag and decapitated.
The boy's father told police when he left for work that morning his son was still alive. He said when he came home he asked Liu where was their son. She told him she sent him away. He said he looked for his son around the house and Liu later confessed that he was in the trash can.
The father walked to the trash can and found his son wrapped in a plastic bag. When he pulled his son out, he also noticed his head was decapitated.
During a police interview, Liu confessed to killing her son by drowning him in a bathtub. She refused to talk about the decapitation.
A knife found in the bathroom tested positive for blood. There was blood also found in the bathtub.
