Mother accused in prom death appears before judge

A woman accused of giving drugs and alcohol to her son's prom date faced a Harris County judge Monday morning.
An 18-year-old charged in connection with a prom night death will head back to court Friday morning.

HOUSTON – A woman accused of giving drugs and alcohol to her son's prom date faced a Harris County judge Monday morning.

ID=70327866Police say Melissa Martinez gave the drugs and alcohol to Jacqueline "Jackie" Gomez 10 months ago.

Martinez's son, Eddie Herrera admitted to choking and killing Gomez in the hotel room his mother booked for them.

Gomez was found dead in that room the morning after the MacArthur High School prom.

Martinez could face up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine for supplying hydrocodone pills and whiskey.
