Airbnb issues statement after stabbing during party at Montrose property

Houston police said the victim was stabbed in the shoulder and the suspect ran away from the scene.

HOUSTON — A man was stabbed in the shoulder on Sunday during a party at an Airbnb property in Houston, according to police.

It happened around 1 a.m. at a house on Greeley Street near the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Montrose Boulevard.

Investigators said a group of people rented the house and threw a party. They were watching a football game when they invited who they believed to be a neighbor to watch with them.

Witnesses said the neighbor and the partygoers exchanged some words, but nothing came of it. They said the neighbor left the house but returned with a large knife and stabbed a man in the shoulder.

The man who got stabbed ran to his vehicle and grabbed a gun and opened fire on the neighbor as he ran away from the scene, police said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition. Police said the suspect got away but didn't appear to be a threat to the public.

Airbnb said it suspended listings at the house while an investigation takes place.

"We are in touch with local neighbors to provide our support, and we have deactivated listings at this home as we investigate," Airbnb said in a statement.
