HOUSTON — A search is underway for the gunman who shot and killed a man in southwest Houston Tuesday evening.
The shooting happened around 5 p.m. on Southfield Drive near Wuthering Heights Drive.
Houston police were telling people in the area to stay alert since the shooter was on the loose. They're asking neighbors to check their cameras for video that might lead to an arrest or at least a description.
When first responders arrived, they tried to save the victim but he died in the driveway. Homicide detectives were interviewing his family in hopes they could provide answers on a possible motive.
There were several cars in the middle of the street that was blocked by police but it's not clear if they were part of the investigation.
“We’re still figuring that out. At this time we’re piecing it together, as you can see there’s a number of vehicles in the area so we’ve got to go through the whole process of seeing and figuring out what belongs to what," HPD homicide detective Russell Bounds said.
The victim's name hasn't been released.
We have a crew on the scene and will post any updates as they become available.
