MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A man with a history of drunk driving was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
Ronnie Paul Hobgood Jr., 45, agreed to a plea deal Monday after he was arrested in February for his sixth DWI .
Hobgood reportedly tried to leave a Montgomery County bar and crashed into a parked car. When people tried to prevent him from driving away, Hobgood jumped a curb and onto the feeder road of the North Freeway, when he struck another car.
He was later pulled over and arrested. His blood alcohol level was a .27, more than three times the legal limit.
Hobgood’s DWI history dates back to 1990, according to Montgomery County prosecutors. He’s also served two other prison terms for DWI.
“The defendant is clearly a danger to the public and this sentence will ensure that he never has the opportunity to hurt anyone else again,” said Montgomery County Prosecutor Brittany Litaker.
