CLOVERLEAF, Texas — A 49-year-old man is charged with murder in the shooting death of a 21-year-old man in the Cloverleaf area on Monday, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales.
The sheriff said Jorge Zuniga-Martínez, 49, is charged with murder in the death of Sherwin Mireles-Mireles, 21. Zuniga-Martínez has been booked into the Harris County Jail.
The sheriff posted to X about the shooting just after 5:45 a.m. This happened on Brownsville Street just east of Freeport Street.
The sheriff said the location is known in the community to be a chop shop dumping ground for stolen vehicles and parts.
Mireles-Mireles learned that his friend’s stolen truck was possibly at the location and jumped the fence, sheriff said. The shooter confronted Mireles-Mireles on the property.
Mireles-Mireles apologized and tried to leave, but the shooter still shot him multiple times, the sheriff said.
