The driver could face a charge of failure to stop and render aid, HPD said.

HOUSTON — Investigators are looking for a driver accused of hitting and killing a man who may have fallen while crossing the street on the Northwest Freeway feeder road early Thursday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

This happened around 2 a.m. just north of West 34th Street.

Witnesses told police they saw the man trying to cross the street before he fell down. HPD said the witnesses stopped to call 911 before a white Chevrolet Malibu hit the man and took off.

Police have not identified the driver but were working to gather surveillance video from businesses in the area. Investigators said they are looking for a car with damage to the front end and potentially blood on its underside.

The driver could face a charge of failure to stop and render aid, HPD said.

If you have any information about what happened, investigators ask that you call HPD at 713-884-3131 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
