Man charged with capital murder for allegedly killing man inside estranged wife's home

Court documents claim Michael Maurice Mack, 48, killed Kelvin Hinton, 53, who was lying next to Mack's estranged wife in bed.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man charged with capital murder for allegedly breaking into his estranged wife's house and killing a man appeared in court Tuesday.

Michael Maurice Mack, 48, turned himself in Tuesday morning. Mack was wanted by deputies for allegedly killing Kelvin Hinton, 53.

On Aug. 14, Harris County Precinct 5 deputies were notified of a possible homicide at a home on Wells Station Court near Stockdick School Road in Katy.

When deputies got there, they searched the home and said they found evidence of foul play but no body, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said deputies learned the body of Kelvin Hinton, 53, may have been transported and dumped at another location.

Evidence led investigators to the body of Hinton, which was found on Old Hwy 90 near I-10 in Vidor, over 100 miles away.

According to court documents, Mack killed Hinton, who was lying next to Mack's estranged wife in bed.

Investigators accused Mack of then forcing his wife to shoot Hinton's dead body.

Mack allegedly took the woman to Vidor, where he dumped and burned Vinton's body, according to court records.

Mack is being held on a $1 million bond.
