Thanksgiving joy ride in customer's Mustang lands Magnolia mechanic in jail, police say

A Thanksgiving night traffic stop by Magnolia police led to the arrest of a mechanic who police say took a customer's sports car without permission.

MAGNOLIA, Texas — A Magnolia man ended up in jail on Thanksgiving night after what started as a routine traffic stop. 

Magnolia police stopped the bright red sports car on South Magnolia Street. 

While questioning the driver, they discovered that the Mustang didn't belong to him. Police said the mechanic admitted that a customer of the shop where he works owns the car. 

Officers contacted the owner and confirmed that the mechanic did not have permission to drive the vehicle for personal use. 

The joy ride led to his arrest on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle.
