HOUSTON — Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly shooting in north Houston late last year.
Raudel Orozco, 20, Rolando Orozco, 22, and Jody Duron, 19 have been charged with murder, the Houston Police Department announced on Wednesday, a day after they said they were taken into custody by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. The Orozcos are brothers, according to police.
The trio is accused of shooting 29-year-old Luis Casillas on Dec. 23. Officials didn't provide details as to how each man was involved in the shooting.
What happened
Casillas was shot in the head outside the shop at which he worked off the North Freeway near West Little York Road. Witnesses said one of up to six suspects was supposed to pay for a $500 repair but refused. That's when Casillas was shot.
Casillas' family said he was killed over a $500 repair job. It was money he planned to put toward Christmas gifts for his two children.
Witnesses said they saw Casillas get into an argument with the men and try to get away before he was executed while begging for his life.
Witnesses said they tended to the mortally wounded Casillas after hearing a single gunshot.
The investigation
In January, Houston police said they were looking for six men in connection with the deadly shooting.
During a news conference, investigators said that they were looking for two lowered Chevy Silverado pickup trucks, one maroon and one tan, as well as six men who were all believed to be in their 20s.
It's unclear if police are still looking for the other three people they believed to be involved.
