Felipe Diaz Marin, 39, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the attack on Long Point Road near Antoine on Thursday, October 31.

HOUSTON — A man has been charged with stabbing his mother to death and wounding her brother at a Spring Branch-area apartment complex Thursday, authorities said on Friday.

The attack happened on Long Point Road near Antoine Drive around 7:30 a.m. on Halloween morning.

Felipe Diaz Marin, 39, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. In probable cause court, it was revealed that Marin is the woman's son and the man's nephew.

Editor's note: The above video aired Thursday before the arrest.

"I just heard neighbors yelling, that there was a dead body, a lot of blood spilled," one woman who didn't want to be identified told us. "It was just really scary."

She said someone called the police when they heard a woman screaming.

A neighbor told KHOU 11 that someone called police after hearing a woman scream.

Houston Police Department officers found the victims with multiple stab wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a 73-year-old man was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. Their names haven't been released.

"At the moment, we're still in the very early stages of the investigation – still putting the puzzle pieces together, identifying everyone," HPD homicide detective C. Bowling said.

One neighbor told us the victims moved in about a month ago. It's not clear if Marin also lived there.

"I did not know them personally, but I always saw them walking by – the lady was super nice," she said.

She said police had been called to the family's apartment multiple times recently.

At his first court appearance early Friday, prosecutors asked for no bond but the judge set Marin's bond at $100,000 for the murder charge and $50,000 for the agg assault charge.

Marin was charged with threatening his mother's life in February. He told her, "When I get out I’m going to f’ing kill you,” the prosecutor said in court.

At last check, Marin remained in the Harris County Jail.
