HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A Klein Cain High School cosmetology teacher was arrested on felony charges of child sex trafficking and prostitution.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said his department and Klein ISD police worked together to arrest Kedria Grigsby, 42, on three counts of trafficking of a child and three counts of compelling prostitution of juveniles.
The sheriff said the victims, ages 15, 16, and 17 were students and reported runaways.
Grigsby waived her right to appear before a judge on Tuesday morning. Her total bond was set at $750,000.
She is a certified cosmetology teacher at the high school.
Gonzalez said they believe Grigsby assisted her son, Roger Magee, 21, who was arrested in 2022 for similar charges. Magee remains in jail.
It's believed Grigsby recruited "troubled juveniles" from local high schools by offering them a place to stay, which ended up being a hotel. Additional teens came forward saying Grisgby was also trying to recruit them while attending school, the sheriff said.
Investigators said Grigsby and her son allegedly used Zelle to transfer money. They found text messages between the two talking about payments as well as messages sent between her son and the victims.
In a letter sent to Klein ISD families, the district said once they were informed of Grigsby's arrest, she was immediately placed on administrative leave. In the letter, Klein ISD said it has "no intention of allowing this individual back to Klein Cain or any Klein ISD school."

Dear Klein Cain Families,
We are writing to inform you of a situation the Harris County Sheriff’s Office just notified us of, which we have immediately addressed.
Law enforcement notified us that cosmetology teacher Kedria Grigsby was taken into custody for felony charges of sex trafficking and compelling prostitution. As soon as we were notified of this information, the district took immediate action, apprehended, and immediately placed Ms. Grigsby on administrative leave. Klein ISD has NO intention of allowing this individual back to Klein Cain or any Klein ISD school, and we will report to all appropriate agencies at the conclusion of the investigation.

Gov. Greg Abbott responds
Late Monday night, Gov. Greg Abbott also shared news of this arrest on his social media pages to promote school vouchers legislation.
That program would create a savings account for students to cover tuition to private schools.
“What some of our educators are doing is criminal and disgusting…no child should be compelled by the state to be in a school like this. And yet, current law doesn’t allow the choice to go elsewhere. I’m working to elect state representatives who will change that,” the governor said in his social post.
