HOUSTON A judge ordered a Westfield High School football coach to stay away from one of his students on Friday morning.
Shae McCutchen, 34, is charged with having an improper relationship with a teenage girl.
Prosecutors said McCutchen met the girl in a health class he teaches. The two exchanged numbers, and McCutchen started giving the girl candy and small gifts.
Sometime later, the student asked her mother for a ride to the Spring grocery store where the teen works. However, instead of working, the teen walked to a nearby Quiznos where authorities said McCutchen picked her up, and then drove to his home for sex.
Prosecutors claim cameras caught the two meeting at Quiznos.
McCutchen is out on bond, but a judge ordered him not to have contact with the girl.
At this point, there is nothing we can really say about the case, itself, John Pizzitola, McCutchen s attorney, said. I just first met with Mr. McCutchen late last night, almost midnight. We just need to get with the district attorney and determine how the case will be approached by both sides.
According to the Spring Independent School District, McCutchen was placed on administrative leave on July 9 while the Spring ISD Police investigated the allegation that he had an improper relationship with a female student.
McCutchen has been employed at Westfield since 2004.
He will be back in court Nov. 12. He s been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
