MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A Montgomery County man accused of killing an infant last month was being held in jail on a $750,000 bond.
Authorities with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said Melvin Jesus Aquino Enriquez caused the injuries that led to the death of a 3-month-old child.
On April 14, the severely injured child was taken to an area hospital. Investigators started looking into what happened and determined Enriquez was responsible for the injuries.
While investigating, authorities said they found out that Enriquez lived at a home in Porter with a woman and the child. Investigators determined he choked the woman and arrested him and charged him with assault.
On April 17, Enriquez was charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
The infant died on April 21. Authorities said additional charges were possible against Enriquez.
