HOUSTON – Four suspects are in custody after a high-speed chase through west Houston overnight.
According to the Houston Police Department, it started at 12:45 a.m. Friday when a patrol unit ran the license plate of a Chrysler 300 near Westheimer and Gessner and it came back as being reported stolen.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver took off leading police on a high-speed chase, heading west on Westheimer to Wilcrest. The pursuit then went north on Wilcrest running red lights.
As the pursuit came to the Katy Freeway, the suspect was going too fast to make the turn attempting to head west on the freeway and crashed into the curb. The vehicle slid sideways in the grass and skidded to a stop in the feeder road.
Four male suspects jumped out and fled the scene on foot. Two were quickly captured by HPD units behind them, and the other two were caught a few minutes later.
Police said a gun was recovered in the vehicle. One of the suspects had to be subdued with a Taser. He was treated at the scene by HFD.
