Wanted woman sneaks up on victims, stabs them in the face, HPD says

Houston police are searching for a woman who they said attacked two men in the Galleria area late last year.

HOUSTON — Houston police are searching for a woman who they said attacked at least two people in December.

They released surveillance video of the woman on Wednesday. In the video, she's seen walking out of a store, but there's no video of either of the attacks she's accused of.

According to Houston police, the first incident happened on Dec. 9 just before 11 a.m. A 63-year-old man said he was walking along Bettis Drive -- just north of Westheimer Road inside the West Loop -- in the Galleria area when the woman snuck up from behind and stabbed him in the face with a knife. The man said the attack was unprovoked and the woman walked away without saying a word. The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The second incident happened five days after the first, on Dec. 14, around 2:30 p.m. The 30-year-old victim said he was walking to his car along San Felipe Street not far from where the first attack happened. He said he was attacked from behind and struck on the side of his head with a sharp object. The woman again walked away without saying anything. The victim was treated at the scene.

The woman is described as being about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and about 180 pounds. Police think she's in her early 40s and has short black hair, which was worn in a bun. Police said that after talking to the victims and witnesses and reviewing surveillance video, they determined the same woman was responsible for both attacks.

Anyone with information is asked to call the HPD Major Assaults Division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
