Valet driver shot, killed in apparent robbery while helping customer in west Houston, police say

According to HPD, the suspect tried to rob the valley driver at gunpoint and ultimately shot him before dragging him out of the car and searching his body.

HOUSTON — A valet driver was shot and killed during an apparent robbery early Sunday morning when he was trying to help a customer who had gotten into an accident in his business' parking lot, Houston police said.

This happened shortly after 4 a.m. on Pagewood Lane near the Westpark Tollway.

The valet driver worked at a club off the Southwest Freeway in the Harwin area and drove the customer to a business to pay for the damages in the accident. Police said the customer was inside the business when a car pulled up and someone got out with a gun.

According to HPD, the suspect tried to rob the valet driver at gunpoint and ultimately shot him before dragging him out of the car and searching his body. It's unclear if anything was taken but the suspect got back into their car and took off.

Police said they were able to obtain some surveillance video from the business but it was low quality and they weren't able to get a description of the suspect or the vehicle, other than it looked like a four-door sedan. HPD said the customer told officers he didn't see the incident.
