HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An Humble ISD police officer stepped in when a father began shooting at his son with a high-powered rifle Thursday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said the father refused to be taken into custody, and that is when the shooting began in the middle of the Summerwood neighborhood in northeast Harris County.
Deputies said they know who the man is. He has been in touch with his family, which has been urging him to turn himself in.
Just after 10 p.m., there was some kind of argument between the father and his teenage son on Yaupon Holly Lane, deputies said.
Investigators said the father had fired a high-powered rifle five to six times.
At that moment, an off-duty Humble ISD police officer got home and intervened. Deputies said the officer and the father fired their weapons at the same time.
Then the father ran off.
