HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 15-year-old male was taken into custody following a shooting in north Harris County early Wednesday morning, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
This happened just before 4:30 a.m. on Treaschwig Road near Mala Way.
The sheriff said Precinct 4 deputy constables responded to a call from someone who said their son had been shot. When deputies arrived, they found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, the sheriff said.
Precinct 4 said the teen shot the man, who then immediately contacted his parents. They rushed to his aid and when they got there, the teen shot at their vehicle, according to investigators. They were not injured.
While deputies were still at the scene, they heard more gunshots and started chasing the teen, the sheriff said. Deputies set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and the teen was taken into custody. Pct. 4 said he was found hiding between houses in the neighborhood.
A neighbor said there was a heavy police presence during the incident.
"About seven or eight cops on foot, right here in front of the house. And they went to that house there and converged on that house," a neighbor said describing the scene.
