HOUSTON — Three teens were shot early Friday morning while driving in northeast Houston, police say.
This happened around 1:30 a.m. on Spaulding Street in the Trinity Gardens community, which is near the North Loop and Eastex Freeway.
According to the Houston Police Department, a 14-year-old boy -- the driver -- was shot several times in the torso, a 16-year-old boy was also shot in the torso and a 15-year-old boy was grazed in the upper body. HPD said all three are expected to survive and a fourth teen in the car was uninjured.
What happened
Police said the teens were driving erratically on Spaulding Street when a black sedan pulled up and opened fire. The 14-year-old reportedly got out of the car and started running before he was privately taken to a hospital.
The rest of the teens drove the car back to their home where police were called. The other two injured teens were taken to a hospital by the Houston Fire Department.
HPD said they have not identified a suspect and asked that anyone with information give them a call at 713-884-3131.
