3 teens shot in possible road rage incident on the Southwest Freeway, Houston police say

Police said the shooter pulled up and he and the teens lowered their windows. That is when he pulled a gun and shot at them.

HOUSTON — Three people are recovering from gunshot injuries after a suspected road rage incident on the Southwest Freeway early Friday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

This happened just before 12:30 a.m. near the Hillcroft area. Police said a car with four people inside was coming to the city's southwest area after bowling in Humble.

Police said it was near the Hillcroft area on the Southwest Freeway that a Toyota Tundra that had been tailgating them pulled up next to them. They both lowered their car windows, then the driver of the Tundra pulled out a pistol and fired.

One 19-year-old man was hit in his head while two women in the car – one 19 and one 18-- were also shot, police said. One was hit in her foot and one in her knee.

There was a driver in the car who was not hit. He took them all to a hospital.

The man hit in his head area was taken to surgery in critical condition, police said. HPD was called once the victims arrived at the hospital.

Police described the suspect.

“Our suspect is believed to be a middle-aged Hispanic male that was driving the Tundra, possibly a female or male in the passenger side of that truck,” HPD Lt. R. Willkens said. “Investigators are en route to see if we can figure out exactly who it was that was in that truck.”

The investigation is ongoing but here are some things to keep in mind in the event you encounter something that is similar to the description of this incident.

The Texas Department of Transportation recommends you stay calm, don’t do things like tailgate or flash your lights, avoid eye contact, and don’t yell obscenities or make offensive hand gestures.
