Minor shot while helping brother track down stolen vehicle in north Houston, HCSO says

The sheriff's office said the brother noticed his vehicle had been stolen at home but was able to track it with GPS.

HOUSTON — A minor was shot while trying to help his brother track down his stolen vehicle in north Houston Wednesday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

This happened around 9:14 p.m. on Homestead Road at Hamill Road, which is near the Eastex Freeway.

The sheriff's office said the brother noticed his vehicle had been stolen at home and was able to track it with GPS. He and the minor borrowed a family member's truck and found the suspect driving the stolen car. A deputy said the brother pulled up behind the stolen vehicle when the suspect fired several rounds at them.

The minor was shot and taken to a hospital. He is expected to be OK.

HCSO said the stolen vehicle was found nearby and has been recovered. The suspect was not there when deputies found the vehicle.
