Video show store clerk fighting back against armed robbery suspect near downtown Houston

The clerk tried to get the gun away from a man who police said demanded money at gunpoint.

HOUSTON — A store clerk fought back against a man trying to rob the business near downtown in July.

The video above is from the store on Elgin at Ennis at around 3 a.m. on July 1.  According to Houston police, the suspect walked up to the counter with a gun drawn and demanded money from the cash register. The store clerk tried to get the gun away from the suspect but was unable to. 

Police said the suspect then gave up and took off running. It’s not clear how much money, if any, he got away with.

According to police, the suspect is between 18 and 25 years old, standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighing between 160 and 180 pounds.
