MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — An off-duty Houston police officer was arrested following a rollover crash early Saturday morning, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

This happened around 2 a.m. on FM 1314 in the Porter area.

Deputies said Adan Lopez, an off-duty HPD officer, is charged with interfering with public duties and unlawful carry of a weapon.

When deputies arrived at the scene of the crash, they found two people being treated in the back of an ambulance for injuries sustained in the crash.

Deputies said it was determined that the driver of the vehicle, Norma Miranda Estrada, was intoxicated at the time of the crash. She was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

During the investigation, deputies said Lopez refused to comply with their instructions and consistently interfered with their investigation.

Deputies said Estrada was wearing her seatbelt during the crash while Lopez did not. This also helped to determine who the driver of the vehicle was.

Lopez sustained multiple facial injuries during the crash prior to law enforcement arriving on scene, deputies said. He was treated by EMS and taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries prior to being taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

HPD’s Internal Affairs Division was contacted and also responded to the hospital to meet with Lopez prior to his transport.
