HOUSTON — A man was shot to death after a social media influencer party near downtown Houston early Saturday morning, police said.
This happened outside a warehouse on Providence Street off the East Freeway at around 1:30 a.m.
The Houston Police Department said the shooting happened after the party ended when people were still in the parking lot. There was some sort of fight when the suspect took a backpack from a woman and started running. According to HPD, the victim, a man in his 20s, chased after the person who took the backpack. That's when the suspect shot several times, hitting the man.
The victim died while being taken to an area hospital. It's unclear whether there were any other shooters.
Police said another person was shot in the legs and are working to confirm that they were at the party, too. That person is expected to be OK.
If you were at the party or have any information about what happened, HPD asks that you contact its homicide division at 713-308-3600.
