Suspect shot in head multiple times during apparent home invasion in southwest Houston, police say

​According to the Houston Police Department, a woman had called 911 saying there were four to five men outside her home with rifles pounding on her door.

HOUSTON — A suspect was shot in the head multiple times during a shootout in an apparent home invasion late Friday night, Houston police say.

This happened around 11 p.m. at an apartment complex on Beechnut Street near Beltway 8 in southwest Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, a woman had called 911 saying there were four to five men outside her home with rifles pounding on her door. At some point, the men forced their way into the home and a shootout ensued.

Police said none of the residents were hurt in the shooting, but one of the men was shot in the head multiple times. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD said they weren't yet sure what led up to the incident but an investigation is underway.
