The Harris County Sheriff's Office said deputies were helping the La Marque Police Department apprehend the suspect when the suspect got out of a vehicle with a revolver. That's when shots were fired and the suspect was struck.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital in critical, but stable condition.
No officers or deputies were injured in the incident.
The suspect has not been identified, but investigators said he was involved in a homicide earlier Wednesday in Galveston County.
