HCSO deputy arrested, accused of misusing official information

The Harris County Sheriff's Office arrested one of its deputies on charges for the misuse of official information.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office arrested one of its deputies on charges for the misuse of official information.

Jose J. Ramirez was relieved of duty without pay and arrested on Monday.

Investigators with the Houston Police Department Vice Division and the Houston Police Proactive IAD Unit alerted HCSO after they say Ramirez was conducting random checks of license plate numbers of vehicles that frequented Airport Game Room in Houston.

Officials say the game room is managed by Ramirez’s wife. Authorities believe Ramirez was conducting the license plate checks to give his wife information on whether patrons entering the game room were suspected law enforcement personnel.

Ramirez was employed by HCSO for more than two years and was assigned to the evening shift patrol bureau. He was suspended without pay since the investigation began, according to HCSO officials.
