HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An off-duty deputy who was working security for a bar in northwest Harris County shot a man overnight, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
This happened after 1 a.m. in the parking lot of District 249, which is located off the Tomball Parkway south of the Grand Parkway.
Gonzalez said there was some kind of fight at the bar and everyone involved were brought outside. One of the men grabbed a pistol and a deputy ordered him to drop it. When the man refused, the sheriff said the deputy opened fire, hitting the man.
He was taken to an area hospital reportedly in critical condition.
Gonzalez said an investigation into the shooting was launched. The Harris County District Attorney's Office will also conduct an investigation.
