HOUSTON — A Harris County Jail inmate arrested more than a month ago had a gun hidden inside his wheelchair, the sheriff's office said.
Tyrone Kennedy, 53, was arrested for violating his parole on Oct. 23 and booked into the jail on Baker Street.
After receiving an anonymous tip, jail detention officers found the weapon hidden under a seat cushion in Kennedy's wheelchair on Tuesday morning.
Now, he faces a new felony charge.
An internal investigation and review of policies and procedures is underway to determine why the gun wasn't found sooner.
