HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A woman in her 40s was found shot to death in a west Harris County home Friday night.
This happened at a home on Beechmor Drive in a neighborhood on Huffmeister Road north of Spencer Road around 10:30 p.m.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the woman's boyfriend went to check on her after not hearing from her for a few days. That's when he discovered the door had been kicked down and she had been shot to death.
"The boyfriend had come over to check on her. When he got here, he found the door had been kicked in," an investigator said.
Investigators were searching the neighborhood to gather surveillance video and talk to any potential witnesses.
Neighbors said it's shocking to see that level of violence in such a quiet place.
"It makes me worry. I live in the neighborhood and to know that somebody's house was entered, kicked in and somebody was shot -- that's just terrible," a neighbor said.
The neighbor didn't want to reveal his identity but said the quiet streets, family park and open space are why he calls the area home. He said the whole situation is unbelievable and tragic.
"For anybody, the loss of life, how that hits you, it's devastating for a family," he said.
HCSO said they believe this may be an isolated incident. No suspect has been identified, and the victim hasn't been identified.
"This type of stuff doesn’t happen over here in this area pretty often so we kind of believe this might be an isolated deal," the investigator said.
