SUGAR LAND, Texas — Three people were arrested following a smash-and-grab robbery at First Colony Mall on Saturday, according to the Sugar Land Police Department.
Sugar Land police posted about the incident just before 2 p.m. First Colony Mall is located along the Southwest Freeway near Highway 6.
A jewelry store called "Daniel's Jewelers" was targeted. Police told KHOU 11 the suspects used a window punch to smash the glass and then ran to a waiting vehicle.
Someone provided a description of the vehicle to the police, which led to one person being arrested on the feeder road near Houston Methodist Hospital.
The other two suspects ran on foot but were later arrested.
Police said no shots were fired and there was no danger at the mall, however, one injury was reported after a bystander at the mall fell.
Police have identified the suspects as Austin Greer, 34, Terzandro James-Baines, 34, and Jada Stewart, 31. They have all been charged with felony aggravated robbery.
Greer has a lengthy criminal history that includes previous assault, terroristic threats and aggravated robbery charges.
According to Harris County court records, he was convicted on a felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge in 2008. He was sentenced to serve six years in state prison.
More recently, Greer was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Fort Bend County in 2015. He forfeited his bond in that case in 2023.
Andy Kahan with Houston Crimestoppers calls it a concerning trend.
"He was out on multiple bonds in Harris County, he was also out on bond in Fort Bend County for you guess it, aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon," Kahan said. "The fact that he’s been wanted now for over a year just brings up the bigger picture of how many other defendants are wanted for bond forfeiture that are running amok out here."
Terzandro James-Baines was previously convicted on a felony manslaughter charge in Harris County in 2008. He was sentenced to serve 10 years in state prison.
