HOUSTON – The North Freeway near the 610 Loop was closed for five hours overnight after a wrong-way driver crashed into three cars – seriously injuring a father and his 10-year-old son.
According to the Houston Police Department, they are currently in serious condition but are expected to survive.
Police said it started at 11 p.m. Sunday when the suspect was going to wrong way on the East Loop neat the Ship Channel. Several people called 911 to report him.
Eventually he ended up going the wrong way on Interstate 45 South near Crosstimbers and 610.
After he crashed, deputies say the driver got out and tried to run away. However, they were able to find him and he’s now under arrest.
As far as who he is, that information still hasn’t been released, but Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constables do believe he was intoxicated.
He will likely face charges of intoxication assault and failure to stop and render aid.
